But what is the Residency you might ask, and why does it matter? Allow us to explain…

The VerticalCrypto Art Residency is a one of a kind, NFT-native education programme/incubator providing free educational programmes dedicated to creators and artists around the world in the fields of NFTs, Crypto Art, Web3 and the metaverse. VCA programmes are committed to support, uplift, educate and provide the tools to empower creators and artists around the world in metaverse and NFT-native skills.

The VerticalCrypto Art Residency was first conceived in June 2021 in response to a growing demand from the Web3 community for educational resources and mentorship related to NFT art on the blockchain. Ever since, the Residency has had two cohorts of 40+ artists – providing valuable teachings from thought-leaders and mentors, a platform for artistic recreation and collaboration, and connections with the NFT community at large.

The VerticalCrypto Art Residency is structured in open calls that take place every three months, divided into 12 week slots between two cohorts of roughly 15-20 artists each. Each Residency consists of an eight-week long course, assessing education in blockchain art, providing marketing and promotion within VCA’s social channels, access to relevant platforms for meet-ups, AMAs, news and events, and finally a budget to produce and mint NFTs.

The VerticalCrypto Art Residency website (launched yesterday) is the latest addition to VCA’s mission –  forming an important step in providing past, present and future NFT/blockchain education resources from the VerticalCrypto community. The new Residency site archives pre-recorded resources from former cohort classes, an outline of the residency curriculum, highlights and profiles of current and former resident artists.

The team at VCA is delighted to introduce the crypto art community to our new platform, which is committed to supporting education among artists, mentors and NFT enthusiasts within the metaverse.
